Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen delivered a speech at a graduation ceremony at Phone Penh’s International Institute of Cambodia’s University of Technology that both Cambodian and Chinese government would sign a deal for rice export.
The premier also said that the rice agreement would help cement Cambodia’s trading ties with the world’s second-largest economy. Chinese market is the main rice importer from neighboring countries, Thailand and Vietnam.
It is expected that signing a deal with China will help boost the export of milled rice from Cambodia and help Cambodian farmers’ lifestyle to be better.
Qian Hai, spokesman and second secretariat of the Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh, confirmed yesterday that the agreement signing would be held this week along with the release of more specific figures, the Phnom Penh Post reported.
Previously, PM also said that the Cambodian government would guarantee 50% of commercial bank lending to rice producers.
