Passage of Acid Attack Law Welcomed, With Caveats

2007 Audit Finds Irregularities, Inefficiencies

The Cambodian government on Thursday made public the results of a 2007 government audit, where it found a lack of income from national revenue and other irregularities. The report, issued by the National Audit Authority, found irregularities in the import and export sector and a “lack of efficiency” in the fight against customs crimes and other areas that cause a loss of revenue. Sam Rainsy Sentence Slightly Reduced in Map Case

The Cambodian Court of Appeals on Tuesday reduced by three years the prison sentence for exiled opposition leader Sam Rainsy on criminal charges of disinformation. Sam Rainsy was facing a 10-year sentence for allegedly publishing a map of the border with Vietnam in 2009 that the government said was fraudulent.
